There is an episode about this festival in our archives as we talk about the audience and all the great films we showcased at this event.
The theme of the November 2018 Female Feedback Film Festival in Los Angeles was “Choices”.
Perhaps the most generic theme we’ve ever had, but each film was about the main character forced to make a major decision after a traumatic event. Pushing yourself when it’s the last thing you ever want to do.
This is always going to be a memorable festival for myself because while the festival was taking place in Los Angeles, 2500 miles away in Toronto my son Daniel Ross Toffolo was born. He wasn’t supposed to come for another two weeks, but he had other things on his mind.
The only reason this can happen is that we have an outstanding team in Los Angeles who runs a great festival for the organization month after month. From top to bottom, this is an amazing group of people assembled to deliver a top notch event on the first Thursday of every single month at the LA LIVE Regal cinemas in downtown LA.
The 2nd Female Film Festival event of 2018 was a great success. A SOLD OUT crowd with a few people sitting in the aisles (Don’t tell the Fire Marshall!).
The theme of the event was “Unheard Voices”.
Every film had a situation where voices were coming from a distant.
The Female Feedback Film Festival has been the great achievement of the last two years for this organization. Admittingly, I have zero to do with that success.
The MVP of this festival event and the Female Festival overall is Kierston Drier. She is truly becoming an exceptional curator for selecting the films and moderator for the Audience Feedback videos. You can see her brilliant work by watching the videos of this and all the past Feedback Festival events held in Toronto.
Kierston is young, smart, and definitely a go-getter. She has a bright future ahead of her working as a story developer or perhaps staying in the festival world and taking over full reins of this company one day.
This festival was a special one because it was the first festival on a long, long time where there was not a film from North American playing. We showcased films from Poland, Taiwan, South Korea, Finland, Iran, and the UK. If that’s not a diversity of films from around the world, then I do not know what is.
I am SO proud of this festival. We will do 8 Female Festival events in 2018, and in 2019 we are set do to one every single month.
See you at the festivals!
– Matthew Toffolo, CEO, FEEDBACK Film Festival (Toronto & Los Angeles)
The FEMALE AUGUST 2017 FEEDBACK Film Festival gave our audiences the best NEW films by women directors from around the world.
The theme of the festival was “SELF DISCOVERY”.
Every film showcased was about a setting where a character finds out who they are deep inside of themselves.
NOTE: Our 4th Female Director’s festival!
The Female FEEDBACK Film Festival has been an incredible learning experience. The success it has acheived so far in less than a year and four festival nights (3 in Toronto. 1 in Los Angeles) has been nothing short of amazing. The quality of films presented is top notch.
There will be one more Female Festival in 2017 occuring and 6 festivals set for 2018 in Toronto & Los Angeles.
I really have nothing to do with this festival. I don’t program a single film. I don’t moderate. I don’t program any of the accepted screenplays. My job is to simply make sure the excellent team (lead by Kierston Drier and Amanda Lomonaco) have a cinema and audience to showcase the accepted works.
The amazing succcess of Kierston and Amanda’s programming of this festival can’t be overlooked.
