The 2nd LOS ANGELES FEEDBACK Film Festival event of 2018 was a great success.
The theme of the event was “Perspective”.

Every film was about seeing a situation or person from a outside or future point of view.

Whenever you have a festival where every single film receives multiple votes for BEST FILM of the night, you know you have yourself a solid lineup of movies. In our over 100 FEEDBACK Film Festival events, this has only happened a few times; And this festival was one of those nights.

The February LA Festival was a showcase of the best of Female Director’s (1st HALF) and Comedy (2nd HALF) shorts. Eight of the most diverse and solid films from around the world.

Doing the festival in Los Angeles is still a work in progress. It’s almost like we are starting over again. The attendance has been great and the people really get engaged in the FEEDBACK portion of the evening. That said, people don’t know what to expect when they come. There isn’t that “regular” crowd yet because we’ve only done a handful of events so far.

One thing I’m still puzzled by is the lateness in Los Angeles. People have found it difficult arriving on time. Either because of the traffic, or because it’s a “state of mind”. There’s a saying about the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team: people arrive in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7th. They’ll get there – but they’ll get there on their own time.

See you at the festivals. And make sure you get there by 6:55pm for the 7pm show!

Poster cargo small

On a lonely ship, in the middle of the North Sea, fourteen men work together for a month. Day and night they sail around oilrigs to provide them of supplies. In this world of fellowship, waves, storms and containers, Frans, an Amsterdam sailor, seems to be at his best. However, the longer the journey lasts, the more it becomes apparent that something essential is missing in this male microcosm at sea. A small film about loneliness and the importance of love.

  MOVIE POSTERFREEMALES, 20min, Australia, Comedy/Webseries
Directed by Stephanie Jaclyn

When a free spirited traveler moves in with a 9-5 desk worker, they’ll for a strong wine-fueled friendship as they approach their mid-midlife crisis single unemployed and without a plan.

Director Statement

A ‘freemale’ is a modern woman who doesn’t allow what is considered socially ‘normal’ to dictate her life. Despite progress, the idea that a woman should be married, mortgaged and a mother by her 30’s is still extremely prevalent today. In a time where women are encouraged to work but still feel the pressure to conform to their traditional role of being a wife and mother, it’s no wonder we’re seeing a generation of young women experiencing something that can only be described as a mid-midlife crisis.

I felt inspired to write Freemales after living with a friend of mine for over a year. We spent many nights over a glass of wine discussing everything from love, children, what kind of house we wanted to the etiquette of peeing in the shower, free boobing, period sex and whether swallowing semen could be considered ‘acute’ cannibalism. I hope Freemales will provoke conversation, push boundaries and serve as a hilarious insight into the lives of young women attempting to find their place in this evershifting social landscape.
