Samantha McDanel Though I could not attend since the screening took place in Toronto, I adored receiving an audience feedback video! I love what this festival does for filmmakers and that they use their own site to build a page around filmmakers and their movies. The feedback video was very cool and I plan to… Continue reading Female Film Festival Testimonial – May 15 2020
Author: femalefilmfestival
The irony of this festival is that its goal is to not be around in 5 years time. To eventually not be relevant because there is zero need to have a festival geared for female talent and female stories because the stories presented in Hollywood and around the world are a balanced showcase of the human experience from both sexes.
Our goal is to achieve a lot of success and then fold into oblivion simply because there is no need for this festival.
This festival was created by the FEEDBACK Film & Writing Festival as a simple reaction to a strong need to showcase female talent from around the world in a more profound way.
When putting together the weekly festival, the administration noticed a lack of a female presence in the stories being shown at the festival.
A classic example and analogy to the frustration is how the festival noticed that even the smaller roles in a screenplay were written for a man to play. There was zero reason for this in many stories. How a police officer, or a political campaign manager, for example with 3-4 lines in a screenplay was a "HE" character. Why? And these are the screenplays written by the winners! The talented one who have obtained agents and have began/beginning their careers as a writer.

Zombieland | Miniview — WillCBlogs
Nut up or shut up. It took me 11 years to watch Zombieland but better late than never. The zombie subgenre doesn’t appeal to the masses. With a handful of tropes, predictable story arcs, and some sort “Be a hero” moment, its easy to want to avoid zombie movies entirely. However, Zombieland is self-aware and… Continue reading Zombieland | Miniview — WillCBlogs
Femininity vs. Forced Feminism in Wonder Woman (2017.) — Scene Siren
Director: Patty JenkinsScreenplay by: Allan Heinberg Feminism in film is a widely discussed topic, as it should be. In historical cinema, there have been plenty of times when the women characters have been pushed to one side, one-dimensional or merely there for voyeuristic purposes. In some media, it has now taken a 360 turn to […]… Continue reading Femininity vs. Forced Feminism in Wonder Woman (2017.) — Scene Siren

Cormac McCarthy: Maybe not the best author to read during a pandemic — Malcolm’s Round Table
When I run out of factory fresh books, I turn to my bookshelves and re-read older books. I stumbled into the Cormac Mcarthy section recently (I have most of his books) and read Cities of the Plain. Most things go wrong in this book, but I read it all the way through because l like […]… Continue reading Cormac McCarthy: Maybe not the best author to read during a pandemic — Malcolm’s Round Table
