Friends and family start dropping like flies when an award-winning mom brings home a suspicious new husband and his psychopathic son.
Get to know the writer:
What is your screenplay about?
“Kidicide” is an “Enviro-Horror” screenplay about an award-winning chemist who infects the loving bond forged between she and her teenage daughter by impulsively bringing into their home a suspicious new husband and his psychopathic son.
What genres does your screenplay under?
Horror. Psychological Thriller.
How would you describe this script in two words?
“KIDICIDE” offers an original take on the “nature verses nurture” dilemma. What exactly do parents have control over in the raising of their children and what is simply out of their hands? Does genetics and biological factors play a bigger role on their intelligence or is it the “tribe” who raises them? And if we know with certainty what we introduce into our environment conversely affects all creatures who inhabit the earth then similarly who and what our children become exposed to will ultimately affect them as well. With this being said, “KIDICIDE” is about the family we choose and the family we don’t – and the relationships amongst family members.
Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Alfred Hitchcocks, “The Birds.”
How long have you been working on this screenplay?
For over two years.
How many stories have you written?
Too many to count. But “KIDICIDE” started out as a short story titled, “STAY OUT OF MY ROOM.” Afterward I wrote it into a short screenplay and because it resonated with judges and won several awards I decided to enhance the short into a feature.
What motivated you to write this screenplay?
Nature verses nurture dilemma has always been of interest to me.
What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
Making sure the scientific research, although far-fetched, could be considered authentic.
Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
I love reading, walking, and listening to people tell me their stories.
What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
FEEDBACK Female Film Festival goal blew me away. I could have never imagined a festival wanting not to be around in five years because of “zero need” to balance out the powers in Hollywood. I knew this festival was without question about showcasing stories of women. And by ultimately providing phenomenal feedback writers could elevate their story, therefore, promoting the goal of FFFF being reached. Whereas, an audience member is able to finally choose a movie with a female POV. And I say, a BIG YAY to that Mister, err, Missy!
