I have a lot of it, more than I thought I did, and in the past couple years I spent time going through Stuff I owned that I stored in my pale red barn, out back Where the horse stall fell and chickens claimed as their roost a year or so back Stuff, like Aunt […]… Continue reading Read Poem: STUFF, by Katherine Darlington — POETRY FESTIVAL. The irony of this festival is that its goal is to not be around in 5 years time. To eventually not be relevant because there is zero need to have a festival geared for female talent and female stories because the stories presented in Hollywood and around the world are a balanced showcase of the human experience from both sexes.
Our goal is to achieve a lot of success and then fold into oblivion simply because there is no need for this festival.
This festival was created by the FEEDBACK Film & Writing Festival as a simple reaction to a strong need to showcase female talent from around the world in a more profound way.
When putting together the weekly festival, the administration noticed a lack of a female presence in the stories being shown at the festival.
A classic example and analogy to the frustration is how the festival noticed that even the smaller roles in a screenplay were written for a man to play. There was zero reason for this in many stories. How a police officer, or a political campaign manager, for example with 3-4 lines in a screenplay was a "HE" character. Why? And these are the screenplays written by the winners! The talented one who have obtained agents and have began/beginning their careers as a writer.

Watch them tug along First her, then him Walking like looped stitches In the slanted evening light Watch her thread him On her spool Cast perfectly on the bobbin Of this orange sky So long together, they have Sewn, pulled apart, frayed And dropped the needle’s thread But now they rest and Gather up their […]… Continue reading Read Poem: LOVE’S NEEDLE, by Anne Leigh Parrish — POETRY FESTIVAL. My masterpiece, complete, twice edited and printed out in pristine black and white, is taken up with reverence from the printer. I’ll scan once more to check that all is right, then send it off. Oops, there’s a missing s, conspicuous by its absence. What a pain! Where’s the red pen? Perhaps that longish sentence […]… Continue reading Read Poem: Study in Red, by Cathy Cade — POETRY FESTIVAL. Have you ever gone walking on the beach? Shoes slipped off, sand covering your feet Just you walking, on a big empty space. The wind blowing in your face. You pull your coat around you tight; to brace against the cold. Arms across your body, you fold Waves crashing on the shore Yet you find […]… Continue reading Read Poem: WALKING ON THE BEACH, by Jacueline Mead — POETRY FESTIVAL. Submit to site for FREE. We’re at each others throats again, Bickering over the small things, I wish one of us would wave our flags, But we’re both so close to firing our kill shot, And our pride will drag this out until it dies, A product of how I learned to loved, Maybe it’s the only way I can […]… Continue reading Read Poem: Wars of Love, by Kristen Corbisiero — POETRY FESTIVAL.
